About Us

Economy Plumbing Heating and Air, Inc. was started in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1941 by William J. McGurran as a plumbing and hot water repair company call the "MOBILE PLUMBING SHOP."  In the early years the business was idled due to material shortages during World Was II, and Bill was forced to go to the West Coast and work in Defense Contracting.  His wife and family stayed behind in Grand Forks and when the war was over in 1945, Bill returned home.

Shortly after his return, the family and business moved to Cavalier, North Dakota. It was there when the company grew and took shape.

In 1949, Bill moved the business back to Grand Forks and continued to do work in the Cavalier area and in Grand Forks from 1949 to 1952.  As time went on, and with the post war boom, he began to work on larger and more diverse projects, while always maintaining a foothold in service and repair.

Around 1976, Dennis McGurran, one of Bill's sons became a partner in the business and they moved to 1120 Dyke Ave, in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  It was also around this time that the name was changed to Economy Plumbing, Inc. and the business was incorporated.

In February of 2000, Thomas and Richard McGurran, Dennis' nephews, purchased the business and are still operating on Dyke Ave. to this day.
